A World Without Magnets

Think back to your Schoology homework  about magnets around the house HERE

Then write a story about waking up and finding that all the magnetic forces in the world have stopped.

You can use this paragraph to start, or make your own. Use your UOI book. Draft and edit. When you are ready to publish, you can type it as a Google Doc. This will be printed and put on the wall so:

Beginning, middle, end.
Is it interesting?
Do you show understandings about how magnets are used in your house/the world?

(This will be your own work, not your teacher's work.)

I woke up at 2A.M. It was hot in my apartment. My fan had stopped spinning. I didn't know why. I walked out to the kitchen to get a drink of water and saw that the refrigerator door was wide open! I tried to close it, but it wouldn't stay closed!

Making and Troubleshooting Circuits

A little frustration and a ton of co operation and fascination. We used a bulb, a motor, a switch and a battery. Everything had to work. We need to explore more. There are some contradictions here.

Writing Prompt: A Day Without Electricity

I woke up so refreshed. No wonder! My alarm clock had not gone off!  I had not heard it! Was I late for school?  The clock itself was not showing any signs of life!

Today we took apart a computer.

We found a heat-sink with copper on it.

We found a battery INSIDE the computer.

At first we thought the battery helped us type when the computer was unplugged.

But we tried unplugging and the computer stopped.

What is the battery for then?

Tuning In: How The World Works

Today you got your new  Words Their Way words.

By Friday you need to:

1. Write each word in a sentence in the comment section below, or use paper, email, or Google Doc.

2. Write a definition for the word (its meaning), and a sentence for each in your own words.

3. Check capitals, and make sure you have a period at the end.

4 Read you sentences aloud and check/edit/revise them.

Jeffer and Yuki:  Choose 10 of your words to do sentences  for. Talk together to agree on the 10 words you will do please. You just need to write a sentence using each word, no definitions.
